I need screen reader software?

Adobe provide a free online tool which converts the content of PDF files to a format which can be understood by most screen reader applications. 

The URL of the document can be submitted either via email or web form, and the content is returned, converted either to HTML (i.e. standard web page format) or to plain text. Alternatively, the document the user wishes to read can be emailed as an attachment. To access this information submit the URL (web address) of the document via

Can I change the text size and colour settings?

Internet explorer, use Internet Options from the View or from the Tools menu.  Go to the Accessibility Option & tick the three boxes displayed under formatting.
To change the text size tick the Ignore fonts now showing on web pages box.
Click OK.
Click OK again to close Internet Options.
Click on the View option from the Menu bar.
Click on the Text Size option, Choose your preferred text size

I don't want to display pictures?

Click on Internet Options from the View  or the Tools menu (depends on your browser)
Click on the Advanced tab at the top right hand corner of the box.
Scroll down to the Multimedia heading.
Un-tick the box next to Show Pictures.
Click on the Apply button and then click on the OK button.

I need another colour scheme?

Internet explorer, use Internet Options from the View or from the Tools menu.  Go to the Accessibility Option.

Click on the Colours button and un-tick the box next to Use Windows colours.

For text
Click on the button to the right of Text ,choose your colour from the palette then click OK.

For background colour
Click on the button to the right of Background, choose your colour from the palette then click OK.

I use Netscape Navigator?

To remove pictures
Click on the Edit option from the Menu Bar.
Click on the Preferences option.
Click on the Advanced option.
un-tick the box next to Automatically load Images and Click OK.

To change other settings such as text size
Click on Edit from the Menu Bar.
Click on Preferences . You now have the option to make various changes.
e.g. Click on Appearance.
